Roos
I am Roos. I am 36 years old and came to Namibia three years ago. I studied Anthropology and had many jobs from waitress, working at an insurance company, to putting cherries on cakes , during my study and thereafter. I was in Namibia before in 2000 for my end thesis in university. After finishing I started working at my father’s company as a sales person.
Building the Go Kart Track together with Rik is something in my life I will never regret! Now I definitely understand the phrase: ‘’You will regret the things you didn't do and not the ones you did do’’! Making people laugh and smile, seeing them happy and smiling when they come out of the go kart is a big achievement for me!
I don’t know how to thank my staff. They have been great and hardworking for me and Rik. I appreciate them a lot and hope I can secure their jobs for a long time to come! |
Johannes
I am Samuel Johannes, born on 14th of July 1979. I am employed at R&R Karting as a safety instructor and assistant manager for two years now. I fathered 1 boy aged 10, named Sacky Johannes. I am the one and only son of my mother. I have been struggling since I completed my grade 12 in school at Nehale s.s.s. with weak points. I served 5 years doing a security job in Swakopmund of which I got only N$ 1.20 per hour (0.12 euro cent per hour). I am glad now for the position I have at R&R Karting Swakop, able to improve my living standard. Having some shares in the business was not even in my dreams. I just heard it! For everyone who has or intends to get shares in R&R; its a great success!
My slogan: ‘’Suffer first and get richer at the end’’ . Last but not least, I want to marry soon-anybody can assist me on that one Long live R&R Karting Swakopmund.

Vilho
I'm Vilho Naundjoba. I come from the north of Namibia. I'm Ovambo speaking and I'm 29 years old. I'm working for R&R now for 3 years, first as marshal on the track and now as a mechanic and all round worker. I never had a mechanical education, but R&R Karting saw I was eager and gave me the opportunity to develop skills in this field. Most of the things I know about theĀ go karts I taught myself. So if you want to know what is the fastest go kart you got to talk to me (N$100 for a good advice :-) ). I'm a positive person and always keep smiling! My Slogan: ‘’There’s no reason to worry’’ , (and ‘’The bible and my cellphone are my guides ’)

Jeremia
I am Jeremia Shipahu. I am born on 1974-4-07. I am 36 years old. My first job is as a Security Guard at Erongo Security Company in Swakopmund. I have one kid, and the name is Riliya Shipahu and was born on 2009-05-05. Johannes and I are cousins. I work now at R&R Karting as a Track marshal. I like my job, because I came from Ovamboland in the North to find a job here in Swakopmund and I worked as a security guard for a long time but they paid only N$ 1.50 per hour, at the end of the month I only got N$ 600 (60 euro). I was very poor. |
Simon
I'm Simon. I'm 26 years old and family from Vilho. I started working at R&R when they started building the track in 2007. So I also was there when they had to close down because of the wrong tarmac (so now I'm a specialist on tarmac ). After that I worked on a regular bases with R&R, but not permanent. I am now permanently employed, during the week as private security guard of the premises and during the weekends as track marshals. I take care that all reckless drivers be put back on track again after they land in the sand .

I went through a difficult time once I finished grade 12 in 1999 at Nehale s.s.s.. I have been looking for a permanent job for a long time, so that I can help myself and my little one and also my family at the north off Namibia. Unfortunately only used to get a part time job except these past three years at R&R, Thank god I got a good job with a good salary to survive.
Something strange happened in my lifetime, I was attacked by someone I don't even know. He almost killed me. This happened last year in March on my way to work, it was in the early morning hours. He was drunk, attacked me and left me without sight neither sound for a long time. Later I woke up and was able to leave. Thank god I am still breathing on earth!I am a healthy women and free from alcohol. I am unmarried. |
